Tara: How can she not be real?
Willow: She's real, she's just ... kinda ... new.

本集一開始， Buffy坐在魔法商店的圓桌旁，跟Giles、Xander、Anya、Willow和Tara討論著明天她的二十歲生日。Buffy看來滿臉憂心地說。 Buffy: Look, I know Mom wants to gather and make with the merry tomorrow night, but with everything that's going on... 芭菲：聽好，我知道我媽明晚想要把大家聚起來慶祝一番，但是現在有許多正在發生的事情……
	Willow從Buffy身後走過。 Willow: This is exactly what you need. 薇珞：這正是妳目前需要的。
Willow邊說邊坐在Tara身旁，表情看來相當開心。 Willow: A 20th birthday party with, with, with presents, and funny hats, and, and those candles that don't blow out... (whispers to Tara) Those used to scare me. 薇珞：舉行一個裡面有、有、有禮物和有趣的小帽子的二十歲生日派對，還、還有一堆吹不熄的蠟燭……（小聲對Tara說）我真的很怕那些蠟燭。
		Tara微笑地看著Willow，輕聲回答。 Tara: Me too. 泰拉：我也是。

Buffy的煩惱依舊沒消除。
Buffy: I just don't think this is the best time to break out the party pinata. We need to stay focused if we're gonna find a way to stop Glory.
芭菲：我只是不認為現在是舉辦派對的好時機。我們目前得專心找出阻止Glory的方法。

坐在Willow和Tara對面的Xander，煩惱地吐露他的想法。
Xander: We're going up against a god. An actual mightier-than-thou god.
詹德：我們正在對付一個神呢。一個真正遠遠超越妳的神。

Willow還是面露微笑，想安慰大家放輕鬆點。
Willow: Well, you know what they say, the bigger they are-
薇珞：這個，你知道俗語說的，越中看的人……

Willow才剛說到一半，Xander身旁的Anya馬上吐槽。
Anya: The faster they stomp you into nothing.
安雅：越會輕鬆地把你一腳踏為灰燼。

Anya說完，大家都被她的直率發言嚇到，眾人看了她一眼，沉默幾秒鐘，Buffy深呼了一口氣。
Buffy: She's right. I've thrown everything I've got at her and she just shrugs it off.
芭菲：（憂心）她說得對，我對她用盡各種手段攻擊，而她卻只是三兩下就解決了。

Willow還是想正面鼓勵大家。 Willow: Then we have to find something heavier to throw. 薇珞：那我們得找到更重的手段來攻擊她。

聽了Willow的話，本來在一旁默默查著資料的Giles，平靜地說。
Giles: That might pose some difficulty. From what the Council's been able to discover from the book of Tarnis and, and, and other sources, Glory and two of her fellow hellgods ruled over ... one of the more seriously unpleasant demon dimensions.
吉爾斯：那可能有點困難。從觀察人組織在「泰密斯」書裡，和、和一些其他資源當中所能找到的資料來看，有許許多多讓人害怕的惡魔空間，而Glory和她兩個地獄之神的隨從就統治了……其中一個。
Tara: There's more than one?
泰拉：（疑惑）有超過一個的空間？

Anya看著Tara點點頭。
Anya: Oh, there are thousands of demon dimensions. All different.
安雅：喔，有上千個惡魔空間。全都不一樣。
Giles: All pushing on the edges of our reality, trying to find a way in.
吉爾斯：這些惡魔空間全在我們現實世界範圍之外，而且一直試著想找個管道闖進來。
Buffy: I guess Glory found one. The question is, why?
芭菲：我猜Glory找到一個了。但問題是，為什麼？
Giles: There's nothing to indicate that here. Just ... vague references to ... chaos and destruction. (Sound of teakettle whistling. Giles gets up to get it.)
吉爾斯：現在還無法了解這點。只是……大概是跟……混亂和毀滅有關吧。

說完Giles起身，去身後的茶几上倒茶。Buffy則是繼續對大家表達她對Glory的不解。
Buffy: Okay, so, we know where Glory's from. What do we know about her? You know, she's tough, yeah, but, but no bolts of lightning, no blasts of fire, shouldn't a god be able to do that kind of stuff?
芭菲：好，我們的確是知道Glory從哪來的了。但我們又了解她多少？大家都知道的，她很難纏，沒錯，但、但是她既沒帶來閃光，也沒有炸出什麼火焰，神不是都該會做這些事嗎？

Giles邊倒著茶，邊回頭回應Buffy。
Giles: Uh, usually, yes, but um, being in human form must be severely limiting her powers. All we have to worry about right now is she's immortal, invulnerable, and insane.
吉爾斯：嗯，沒錯，通常是會，但是，化身成人類的形式一定多少限制了她的能力。我們現在該真正擔憂的，是她既是神，又刀槍不入，而且還發瘋了。

Giles一說完，Xander馬上皺起眉頭。
Xander: A *crazy* hellgod? And the fun just keeps on leaving.
詹德：一位「發瘋的」地獄之神？這玩笑有完沒完啊。

Giles繼續說。
Giles: From what I've been able to gather, her living in this world is ... seriously affecting her mental state as well. She's only being able to keep her mind intact by, uh, extracting energy from us. Well, from, from the human brain.
吉爾斯：從我所能蒐集來的資料來看，她活在這世界中……也會嚴重影響她的心智狀況。她唯一能保持自己心智正常的方式，就是得靠，嗯，吸取我們的精力。呃，從、從人類的大腦中吸取。

Tara聽到Glory會吸取人類心智，表情變得有點害怕。 Tara: She, she, she's a brain-sucker? 泰拉：她、她、她是個會吸取人類大腦的人？

Tara和Willow害怕地互相看了一眼。Giles放下茶杯，彎身指了指桌上那本剛才讀的書。
Giles: She, um ... "absorbs the energies that bind the human mind into a cohesive whole." Once drained, all that's left behind is, uh-
吉爾斯：她，嗯……（彎身去念著書裡的內容）「吸取精力，好讓這些人類心智連結進為一個整體中。」（繼續回身倒茶）一旦被吸取了精力，剩下的就是，嗯……
Buffy: Crazy people.
芭菲：瘋子了。

Giles邊倒茶邊回答。
Giles: Which is, I'm afraid, why there's been a marked increase in the ranks of the mentally unstable here in Sunnydale.
吉爾斯：這恐怕就是，太陽谷鎮最近精神失常病患突然間暴增的原因。

Tara皺著眉噓了口氣。 Tara: At least vampires just kill you. 泰拉：吸血鬼至少只是殺人而已。

Buffy從椅子上站起來，踱步到Giles身旁。
Buffy: We have to find a way to stop her.
芭菲：我們得想出辦法來阻止她。
Willow: Oh, well, Tara and I can work on some tactical spells.
薇珞：喔，Tara和我可以想辦法弄一些作戰的咒語。

Giles遞給Buffy一杯茶，Buffy啜飲著，Anya則說出她能幫的忙。
Anya: I can do some research. I know *way* more about demon dimensions than Giles does.
安雅：我可以做一些調查。我知道的惡魔空間可是比Giles知道的多「太」多了。

Giles聽了表情不大高興，看著Anya，Anya不覺得自己說錯了什麼，又強調了一句。
Anya: Well, I do.
安雅：我真的是啊。
Xander: This is great long-term plan-y stuff, but what about this ... key thingy Glory's looking for?
詹德：這可真像在做八年抗戰的打算，但是到底……Glory在找的鑰匙（the key）是啥東東啊？

Xander的疑惑一提出，站在圓桌旁喝茶的Buffy和Giles，迅速互相交換了一下眼神。
Tara: Yeah, I mean, shouldn't we be trying to find it before she does?
泰拉：對，我的意思是，難道我們不該在她找到前，先試著找找看嗎？

Buffy故做輕鬆地想轉移焦點。
Buffy: I don't think that's what we should be worrying about right now. (Giles sits)
芭菲：我不認為目前該擔心這個。

Willow支持剛剛Tara和Xander講的話。 Willow: They've got a point. Whatever Glory's planning on opening with the key, I'm guessing it won't be filled with candy and flowers. 薇珞：他們說得很對啊。不管Glory要計劃用那把鑰匙（the key）打開什麼，我想那裡面都絕不會是塞滿糖果和鮮花的。

Willow一說完，Buffy若有所思地低下頭去，身旁的Xander則是滿腦問號。
Xander: So where should we start looking? Do we know where it used to be kept? Who saw it last?
詹德：所以我們該從哪查起呢？我們知道它通常都藏在哪嗎？誰最後一個看到它的？

想了一下，Buffy嘆了口氣。
Buffy: We did. Giles and me. We, we know where it is.
芭菲：我們都看過。Giles和我。我們，我們知道它在哪。
Xander: You what?
詹德：（驚訝）你說什麼？

Willow看著Buffy，不解地問。 Willow: You know, and you didn't tell us? 薇珞：妳知道，而妳沒告訴我們？

Giles吞吞吐吐地解釋著。
Giles: There were ... reasons.
吉爾斯：那是有……原因的。

Buffy又坐回座位，看著大家，解釋她為什麼不跟大家說鑰匙（the key）在哪的原因。
Buffy: Look, i-if Glory knew that you guys knew where it was, I ... I-I just didn't wanna put you in that kind of danger.
芭菲：聽好，萬一Glory知道你們大夥都知道了它在哪，我……我、我只是不想要害你們陷入這種危險處境中。

Xander看著Buffy，故意語帶諷刺地問著。
Xander: As opposed to the other kind we're always in?
詹德：這是相對於我們平常面對的其他處境而言嗎？
Willow: You should have said something.
薇珞：妳應該透露一些的。

本來Buffy還想要解釋，但想一想，還是決定說出事實。
Buffy: Will, there- (pauses) You're right. (to Giles) It's time.
芭菲：Willow，有……（頓了一下，看著Willow）妳說得對。（對Giles）是時候了。
Giles: Are you sure?
吉爾斯：妳確定嗎？

Buffy看著Giles，堅定地說。
Buffy: If they're gonna be risking their lives, they deserve to know.
芭菲：如果他們得為此冒生命危險，他們是該知道的。
Xander: Know what?
詹德：知道什麼？

Buffy看了看她的朋友們，大家也都看向她。
Buffy: There's something that you need to know ... about Dawn.
芭菲：有一些事情，你們得知道……有關Dawn的事。

之後，Buffy就吐露了Dawn是鑰匙（the key），而她是六個月前被保護這鑰匙的僧侶，用咒語化為人形，傳送到她身邊當她的妹妹，好讓剋星能保護她。而有關眾人對Dawn的回憶以及Dawn自己的記憶，都是僧侶用魔法一併製造出來的。了解這事實後，大家震驚之餘，也要想著怎麼一起保護Dawn。

第二天白天，Willow和Tara在魔法商店外面，忙著用有顏色的沙子在地上畫出一個魔法圖騰。這時Dawn背著書包，愉快地走向她倆。
Dawn: You guys doin' a spell?
糖：妳們在施咒嗎？

	Willow和Tara肩並肩站著，兩人對Dawn露出不自然的微笑。 Willow: Dawn, hey. Y-yeah, we're doing an early warning incantation. If anything hellgodishly powerful comes within a hundred feet of the shop, then screechy siren things will, you know, screech. 薇珞：Dawn，嘿。對、對啊，我們在弄一個預先警報的魔法。如果有任何帶著強大地獄神力的東西靠近商店方圓百步內，就會有尖銳的警報聲會響起，妳知道的，會發出刺耳的警報。
	Tara聽完點點頭，看著Dawn。 Tara: This should give us a heads-up so we can hide ... the, um, key. 泰拉：這應該能警告我們，我們才可以藏好……那個，嗯，鑰匙（the key）。

Willow低頭又撒了些沙子在地上。
Willow: We already put one up around your house.
薇珞：（微笑）我們也已經在妳家房子四周施了同樣的魔法了。
Dawn: Cool, can I help?
糖：酷，我能幫忙嗎？

Dawn一說完，Willow和Tara兩人交換了一個為難的眼神，Willow尷尬地說。
Willow: Well, I don't think Buffy would like the, uh, black arts bumping auras with the littlest Summers.
薇珞：呃，我不認為Buffy會喜歡這，嗯，這種黑暗力量的氣息沾染上Sumemrs家小妹的。（註：Buffy家裡姓Summers）

Dawn瞄了瞄眼前的Willow和Tara，無所謂的點點頭，但表情不是很高興。
Dawn: Yeah, whatever.
糖：好啦，無所謂。

	說完Dawn就往前走進魔法商店，Tara則是偷偷小聲問著Willow。 Tara: How can she not be real? 泰拉：（小聲）她怎麼可能不是真的？
	Willow看來也是滿臉疑惑，她皺著眉思索著Tara的問題。 Willow: She's real, she's just ... kinda ... new. 薇珞：她是真的，她只是……有點……新罷了。 接著Willow把手上剩下的粉末撒到地上，地上的圖騰突然閃耀出明亮的光芒又隨之消失。

而走進魔法商店的Dawn，則明顯感受到Anya和Xander對她的言行非常不自然，甚至講沒兩句話，兩人就趕緊藉故離去。之後Dawn又跑去店後方，在櫃檯上看到一本Giles的筆記本，但才剛翻沒兩下，Buffy跟Giles就從訓練室走來了，Giles趕緊收起那本Dawn正要翻閱的筆記本，而Buffy則一直提醒Dawn要小心Glory。

另一方面，Glory則逮住了一位上集攻擊Buffy的拜占庭騎士，並逼問鑰匙（the key）的下落，那騎士生氣地回罵Glory，跟她說他就算知道也打死不會說，最後Glory憤怒地把那騎士的心智抽取出來。
