「魔法奇兵」第六季第八集—Tabula Rasa (1)

Willow: Tara, please. I need you, baby. I need you. I don't need magic,
let me prove it to you, okay?
I, I will go a month without doing any magic.
I won't do a single spell. I swear.
Tara: Go a week. One week without magic.

Buffy在墓園巡邏，Spike也出現在墓園裡，他邊跟Buffy巡邏，邊提上一次Once More, with Feeling結尾他們接吻的事，但是Buffy卻相當冷漠，把她的行為全歸諸是著了魔法的關係。

講著講著，突然出現了一群以鯊怪為首的惡魔，他們要來跟Spike追討賭債——四十隻小貓咪。而Buffy雖曾在第六季第四集The Flooded那集中跟Spike一起去賭過，但依舊不解用小貓咪當賭債怎麼會討得那麼認真。但她還是幫Spike跟那群惡魔打了起來，而Spike就趁機從旁溜跑，最後鯊怪眼看Spike跑了，也只好告退。

而在Buffy出外巡邏的夜裡，當初把Buffy召喚復活的Anya、Xander、Willow和Tara四人又聚在Xander家裡，討論他們害Buffy從天堂回到人間的事。

Anya開始幻想之前Buffy在天堂的模樣，她把Buffy幻想成天使。
Anya: Do you think she ... walked around on clouds, wearing like ... Birkenstocks and played a harp? 'Cause those are just not flattering. You know, the clunky sandals, not a harp. I mean, who ... doesn't look good with a harp?
安雅：你們認為她……走路伴隨著雲彩，就像穿著……勃肯涼鞋還彈著把豎琴嗎？因為那沒有想像中好看。我是說厚厚的涼鞋啦，不是豎琴。誰配著把豎琴會不好看呢？

其他人沒有附和她，大家全都臉色很糟地低頭看著桌子，Anya看氣氛不對，又開口說。 Anya: What? I'm just saying what everyone's thinking, right baby? 安雅：怎樣？我只是說出大家心裡想的，（對Xander）對吧，寶貝？

Xander無奈地笑了笑。
Xander: You are attractive and have many good qualities.
詹德：妳很吸引人，也有相當多優點。

Tara安慰Anya。 Tara: It's totally not stupid to wonder what it was like for Buffy. But it could have been any one of a zillion heavenly dimensions. All we know is that ... it was a good place and she was happy there. 泰拉：想要知道Buffy之前的樣子，絕對不是件愚蠢的事。但是這可能是千萬個天堂空間裡其中一個的樣子。我們所知的就是……那是個好地方，Buffy在那裡很愉快。

Willow低著頭，口氣相當沮喪。
Willow: And we took her away from that. We wrecked it for her.
薇珞：而我們把她從那個地方帶出來了。我們把天堂從她身邊剝奪走了。
Xander: We didn't wreck. We didn't know.
詹德：我們沒有剝奪。我們當時不知道。

Willow抬起頭來，難過地說。 Willow: We didn't wanna know. We were so selfish. *I* was so selfish. 薇珞：是我們不想知道。（Tara抬頭看Willow）我們之前都很自私。是「我」很自私。 Xander看了Willow一眼，搖了搖頭。 Xander: Maybe we were. I just feel weird feeling bad that my friend's not dead. It's ... too mind-boggling. So I've decided to simplify the whole thing. Me like Buffy. Buffy's alive, so, me glad. 詹德：或許是我們。我只是很詭異地為朋友沒有死掉而感到難過。這……太傷腦筋了。所以我決定簡化整件事。我喜歡Buffy。Buffy是活蹦亂跳的，所以我很開心。 Tara: Not to be Miss Psycho Pep Squad, but we have *got* to stop obsessing about what we did and start trying to make things better for Buffy. 泰拉：我不是要當個打氣小姐，但是我們該停止一直去想過去所做的事，然後試著讓Buffy好過點。

Anya看著Xander。
Anya: I'm with Miss Psycho Pep Squad.
安雅：我同意打氣小姐的話。

Xander開始想一些點子。
Xander: Ah, we need to spend more time with her, just hang out. Maybe have ... weekly dinners over here, or, uh ... a book club. Short books. Videos.
詹德：啊，我們需要多花點時間跟她相處，就陪著她。或許……在這裡每週共進晚餐，或，嗯……一個讀書會。不要讀太長的書。看錄影帶。

	Willow: I can fix it. I know a spell… 薇珞：我可以修正這件事。我知道有一個魔法……
聽到Willow又說什麼魔法，Tara生氣地瞪著Willow，打斷她的話。 Tara: No! No more spells. 泰拉：不！不要再用什麼魔法了。 Willow馬上解釋。 Willow: Then what? This isn't something that's gonna be fixed by a video club. I know I messed up, okay, and ... I wanna fix it. 薇珞：那該怎樣？這不是件光靠看看錄影帶、聚個會就能平撫的事。我知道我搞砸了，好吧，而且……我想要修正它。
Tara的口氣滿是責備的味道。 Tara: I can't believe that we are talking about this again. You know how powerful magic is, how dangerous. You could hurt someone, you ... you could hurt yourself. 泰拉：我不敢相信我們又提這件事。妳也知道魔法的力量有多強大、多危險。妳或許會傷害到別人，妳……妳會傷害到妳自己。
Willow還是執迷不悟。 Willow: I know a spell that will make her forget she was ever in heaven. 薇珞：我知道一個會讓她忘記待過天堂的魔法。 一聽Willow這麼說，Tara生氣地把杯子敲向桌子，大聲地罵道。 Tara: God, what is wrong with you?! 泰拉：天啊，妳到底是有什麼毛病啊？！

眼看Willow和Tara間的氣氛越來越不對勁，Xander馬上站起身，想要找藉口離開。
Xander: I'm gonna go get that ... phone you probably don't hear. High-pitched ring, ears like a dog.
詹德：我要去接一個……你們或許沒聽見的電話。只有擁有像狗一樣敏銳聽覺的人，才聽得到這個高頻電話鈴聲。

Anya也趕緊接口。
Anya: I'm gonna help you with that.
安雅：我去幫你接電話。

	接著Xander和Anya兩人就趕緊溜走，留下Willow和Tara獨處。而Tara馬上就把自己發現Willow在她身上用忘憂草的事攤開來說。 Tara: Do you think I'm stupid? I know you used that spell on me. 泰拉：妳以為我很蠢嗎？我知道妳有在我身上施魔法。
Willow皺眉，表情很抱歉。 Willow: Tara, I'm sorry, I- 薇珞：Tara，對不起，我…… Tara搖搖頭。 Tara: Don't! Just ... don't. There's nothing you can say. 泰拉：別說了！就……別說了。妳沒什麼好說的。 Willow: Tara, I didn't mean to- 薇珞：Tara，我不是故意要……
	Tara又是生氣又是難過地罵著。 Tara: To what? Violate my mind like that? How could you, Willow? How could you after what Glory did to me? 泰拉：要怎樣？侵犯我的心智嗎？妳怎麼敢這麼做，Willow？妳怎麼可以繼Glory之後這樣對我？
Willow的口氣相當低姿態。 Willow: Violate you? I ... I-I didn't ... mean anything like that, I-I, I just wanted us not to fight any more. I love you. 薇珞：侵犯妳？我……我、我不是……故意要這麼做的，我、我、我只是要我們兩個不要再爭吵了。我愛妳。

Tara嘆了口氣，難過地看著Willow。
Tara: If you don't wanna fight, you don't fight. You don't use magic to make a fight disappear.
泰拉：如果妳不想爭吵，妳就不要爭吵。妳不可以用魔法讓一個爭吵消失。
Willow: But I-I just wanted to make things better. Better for us.
薇珞：但是我、我只是想讓事情更好。對我們更好。
Tara: But you don't get to decide what is better for us, Will. We're in a relationship, we are supposed to decide together.
泰拉：但是妳不可以自作主張什麼對我們更好，Willow。我們兩個在交往，我們應該一起決定事情。
Willow: Okay. I'm ... I realize I, I did it wrong.
薇珞：好吧。我……我知道我、我做錯了。
Tara: You did it the way you're doing everything. When things get rough, you ... you don't even consider the options. You just ... you just do a spell. It's not good for you, Willow. And it's not what magic is for.
泰拉：妳做什麼事情都用這方式解決。當事情碰上難關時，妳……妳甚至連想都不去想其他的選擇。妳就只會……只會弄個魔法。Willow，這對妳不是件好事。而且這也不是魔法的本質。

Willow還是想要解釋。
Willow: But I ... I just wanna help people.
薇珞：但是我……我只是想要幫助大家。

	Tara冷冷地回著Willow的話。 Tara: Maybe that's how it started, but ... you're helping yourself now, fixing things to your liking. Including me. 泰拉：或許這是一開頭，但是……妳現在是在幫妳自己，好把所有事都修正到合乎妳意。包含我也在修正範圍內。
Willow: Tara, no! 薇珞：Tara，不是這樣子！ Tara頓了頓，把眼神移開，當她頭轉回來時，眼角已經泛著淚水，口氣變得哽咽。 Tara: I don't think this is gonna work. 泰拉：我不知道這樣還走不走得下去。

Willow也開始難過了起來。
Willow: Hey. It is, i-it's working. Tara, please. I need you, baby. I need you. I don't need magic, I-I don't, I ... let me prove it to you, okay? I, I will go a month without doing any magic. I won't do a single spell. I swear.
薇珞：嘿。可以的，走得下去的。（Tara的頭垂下去）Tara，求求妳。我需要妳，寶貝。我需要妳。我不需要魔法，我、我不需要（Tara的頭又抬起來看她），我……讓我證明給妳看好嗎？我、我一個月完全不用魔法。一個魔法都不用。我發誓。

	Tara看著她，點點頭。 Tara: Go a week. One week without magic. 泰拉：一個星期就好。一個星期不用魔法。
Willow開心地說。 Willow: Fine. Fine, that's easy! 薇珞：好。好的，那很簡單！ Tara看著Willow，眼神看上去還是相當難過。 Tara: Go a week, and then we'll see. 泰拉：就一個星期，然後我們再看著辦。

聽到Tara這麼說，Willow臉上的微笑又僵住了。
Tara: I don't know, I just ... think we both need some ... I don't know, space. Oh, I can't believe I'm saying this.
泰拉：我不知道，我只是……認為我們兩個需要一些……我不知道，空間吧。（Willow皺眉）喔，我不敢相信我會這樣說。
Willow: Are you saying you're gonna leave me?
薇珞：（難過）妳是說妳要離開我嗎？

而在第二天一早的魔法商店訓練室內，Giles跟Buffy說他決定離開她回英國去，因為他希望Buffy能夠更獨立，而不是因為有他，就成為一個軟弱的人。Buffy苦苦哀求Giles別在現在最需要他的時候離開，但是Giles心意已決，他說為了她好，他一定得走，萬一Buffy真的碰上非他不可的麻煩，他還是會回來的。講到最後，Buffy生氣地離開訓練室。

另一方面，Giles也通知大家到魔法商店集合，他要宣佈事情，Dawn和Tara都穿好衣服準備出門集合去，她倆站在家裡一樓等Willow，最後Dawn受不了了，她在樓梯旁朝二樓叫嚷，要Willow動快一點。
Dawn: Willow, come on, you ready?
糖：Willow，快一點，妳好了沒？

看上去才剛洗好澡的Willow，披著一條浴巾，頭上也裹著毛巾，急忙出現在二樓的樓梯口。 Willow: Not so much. You go ahead, tell Giles to hold up. I'll be there in a sec. 薇珞：我還沒完全好。妳們先走，跟Giles說等一下。我馬上就會到了。

Tara皺眉點點頭。
Tara: Fine.
泰拉：好吧。

Tara轉身走到門口，Dawn還是好心提醒Willow。
Dawn: Hurry up. You don't wanna miss the lowdown on our latest featured creature.
糖：快一點。妳不會想錯過我們接下來要面對的鬼怪說明會的。

說完Dawn走到門口跟Tara一起出門，Willow目送兩人離去後，走上樓梯才不到一秒，她又再度出現，這時她用魔法讓自己穿好了衣服，就連頭髮也都乾了。她帶著微笑，走下樓梯。

接著Willow走到客廳旁的一個櫃子前，她打開櫃子，抽開一本書，在書後面拿出她藏的一個塑膠盒，裡面都是忘憂草。然後她跪在壁爐前，掏出一束忘憂草放在壁爐裡，嘴裡開始念起咒語。
Willow: For Buffy and Tara, this I char.
薇珞：為了Buffy和Tara，這就是我要焚燒。

	Willow點起一根火柴，並且用火點燃起壁爐裡的忘憂草，嘴裡念念有詞。 Willow: Let Lethe's Bramble do its chore. Purge their minds of memories grim, of pains from recent slights and sins. 薇珞：讓忘憂草產生作用吧。淨化她們心靈裡不好的記憶，以及近來的怠慢與罪惡所帶來的痛苦吧。
她從腰際的小布袋旁掏出一個袋子，並從袋子裡拿出一個透明的水晶，把它對著忘憂草的火焰燃燒，嘴裡依舊念著咒語。 Willow: When the fire goes out, when the crystal turns black, the spell will be cast. 薇珞：當火光消逝，當水晶轉為黑色，魔法就會投射出來。 Willow把一頭已燒黑的水晶捧回手中。 Willow: Tabula rasa, tabula rasa, tabula rasa. 薇珞：心靈宛如白紙、心靈宛如白紙、心靈宛如白紙。 說完咒語，她把水晶收回腰袋內，轉身離開家門。
	而在魔法商店內，Dawn一心以為Giles要宣佈有什麼惡魔要對付的事，而Willow和Xander隨後一起趕到，Xander還因為天氣冷，好心把自己的大外套借給Willow穿，就在Giles看大家到齊要宣布自己決定回英國的消息之際，Spike突然衝進店內，他穿著一套舊式棕色西裝，帶著一個大皮帽，全身因為被日光照射而冒著白煙，原來他這身正式打扮是被為了躲債，而一路掩飾扮裝跑到魔法商店來。
Spike坐在櫃檯上，跟大家解釋他目前的狀況，Willow則趁這機會偷偷瞄了自己的腰袋一眼，水晶已經全部轉為黑色，她滿意地笑了笑，但她卻不知道，Buffy家裡壁爐的火焰燃燒猛烈，正一路燃燒到她擱在一旁的其他忘憂草上，一瞬間，所有的忘憂草全部點燃。

而在魔法商店裡，Giles又準備開始宣佈他要回英國的事。
Giles：Well, now that we've recovered from Spike's ... sartorial humor, I'll jump to the chase. Um ... I'm headed back to England and I plan to stay ... indefinitely.
吉爾斯：現在我們都從Spike……滑稽的服裝裡回復過來了。（嘆氣）我就直接跳到重點吧。（瞄了Buffy一眼）嗯……我要回英國，而且我計劃……無限期待在那裡。

Giles說完坐到Anya旁邊，大家全驚訝地看著他。
Xander: Now? Not now, I mean, not after ... everything.
詹德：現在？別挑現在，也不要挑……未來的任何時刻。

Gilesr堅決地回答。
Giles：Yes, now.
吉爾斯：對，就現在。
Anya: For real this time? 'Cause honest to Pete, a young shopkeeper's heart can only take so much ... I mean, not that I want you to go-
安雅：這次是來真的？因為老實說，年輕店主的心臟可以承受很多壓力……我的意思是，並不是我想要你走……
Buffy: I can't do this.
芭菲：我辦不到。

Buffy完全不想聽下去了，她朝門口走去，準備逃出這令人窒息的地方。
Buffy: I just, I don't think...
芭菲：我只是，我不認為……
Willow: Buffy, listen.
薇珞：Buffy，聽著。

Buffy停下腳步，回頭看Willow。
Willow: I know this must be awful for you, and I, I'm sorry, I ... I'm so sorry for...
薇珞：我知道這對妳來說一定很難受，而且我、我很抱歉，我……我真的很抱歉……

Buffy不耐煩地點點頭。
Buffy: Sorry. Everybody's sorry. I know that you guys are just trying to help ... but it's just, it's too much. And, and I, I can't take it any more. If you guys ... if you guys understood how it felt ... how it feels. It's like I'm dying, it…
芭菲：抱歉。大家都在抱歉。我知道你們大家都試著想要幫忙……但是這一切都、都太過頭了。而且、而且我、我再也受不了了。（哽咽）如果你們大家……如果你們大家能明白之前在天堂的感覺……和現在在這裡的感覺。就像是我快要死了，而……

正說到這，突然間Buffy昏倒在地，除了Buffy之外，大家也一一昏倒，其中Giles和Anya一起倒在椅子上，Spike則是倒在櫃檯上。至於忘憂草呢，此時已經全部燃燒殆盡。
