這一集主要是亞當收買了Spike，要他取得Buffy等人的信賴後，就來挑撥離間Buffy、Xander、Willow和Giles這群殺魔死黨們，亞當要把Buffy陷入孤立無援的境界。而Spike是怎麼離間Willow和Buffy的感情呢？嘿嘿，他把焦點放在Willow的新戀情上……
Tara的寢室房內，Willow坐在她的床上，膝蓋上有一隻很可愛的黑色小貓，她正在把玩著。Tara則是坐在床前的一個櫃子上，她的膝蓋上則是攤著下學期的選課手冊。
Willow逗著貓，看著小貓咪爪子伸向她。
Willow: Oh. I keep thinking "Okay, that's the cutest
thing ever," and then she does something cuter and completely resets the
whole scale.
薇珞：喔。我一直覺得「喔，這就是牠最可愛的動作」了，後來牠又做了更可愛的動作，害我要重新估算。
Tara看了看Willow和小貓咪。
Tara: Did you see her yawn earlier?
泰拉：妳剛剛有看到牠打呵欠嗎？
Willow露出不可置信的表情。
Willow: Yes! I thought I was going to die.
薇珞：有啊！可愛死了。
Tara聽了笑了笑，這時Willow把貓咪舉起來，在眼前晃了晃，看著牠的眼睛。
Willow: (babying voice) Oh, I love you, Miss
Kitty Fantastico!
薇珞：（逗小孩的聲音）喔，我愛死你了，怪怪貓小姐！
Willow說完親親手中的小貓。
Tara: We got to get her a real name.
泰拉：我們得幫牠取個真正的名字。
Willow把貓放下來，貓跑到一旁玩耍。
Willow: It's so cool that she's ours.
薇珞：（開心）牠是我們的，太棒了。
Willow頓了一下，Tara開心地看著Willow。
Willow: Uh, yours. That she's yours is-is cool.
薇珞：（開心）喔，是妳的。牠是妳的，太棒了。
Tara: She can be ours if you want?
泰拉：如果妳想養的話，牠就是我們的。
聽了Tara的話，Willow感到非常窩心，她開心地對Tara笑著，兩人互望了一下。
Tara: You still need an elective. (glances down
at booklet) How about . . Sophomore Level Psychology?
泰拉：妳還得選一堂選修課。（看看手中的選課本）妳覺得……大二心理學如何？
Tara給了Willow一個由她決定的眼神。
Willow: Oh. Kinda psyched out since Professor
Walsh. Maybe something fun like drama. I could be dramatic.
薇珞：喔。不過自從華許教授事件後，我對心理學可是退避三舍。或許可以選點有趣的，比如戲劇課。我可以很戲劇化的。
說完，Willow就把小貓咪又抓到眼前，故意很戲劇化地對小貓咪說話。
Willow: You cannot have more catnip! You have a
catnip problem!
薇珞：（口氣激動）妳不能再碰貓薄荷了！妳對貓薄荷上癮了！
Tara被Willow逗得一直笑。
Tara: (laughing) Definitely drama.
泰拉：（笑）真的很戲劇化。
小貓咪抓了抓Willow的頭髮和臉，她把小貓咪放下來，快樂地看著Tara。
Willow: I haven't even dealt with the housing situation
yet. Have you done anything? I hear there some off-campus places that are way
cool for groups to, you know, go in on.
薇珞：我還沒有解決好下學期的住宿問題。妳找好了沒？聽說學校附近有一些住宿地方很不錯，妳知道的，可以進去住。
Tara眨了眨眼。
Tara: Oh, I just figured you'd be dorming it up
with Buffy again.
泰拉：喔，我以為妳還要跟Buffy住呢。
Willow口吻變得嚴肅。
Willow: Well, we haven't really talked about it.
I used to assume we'd be roomies through grad school well into little old lady
hood. You know, cheating at bingo together and forgetting to take our pills.
薇珞：呃，我們還沒討論過。我之前以為我們會一直當室友當到研究所畢業，甚至一直到老。然後還可以一起玩賓果的時候作弊，忘了吃藥。
Tara微笑地聽著。
Tara: But?
泰拉：但是呢？
Willow皺了皺眉。
Willow: But . . . I don't know. It hardly feels
like we're roomies now. I mean, she's busy with Riley and I'm gone a lot too.
薇珞：可是……我不知道。我感覺我們好像不再是室友了。我的意思是，她都忙著跟Riley在一起，而我也常常不在寢室。
Willow講到這，表情看來不是很高興，Tara在一旁認真地看看她，Willow抿抿嘴，繼續說。
Willow: I guess I should ask her.
薇珞：我想我應該找她談一下。
（註：嘿嘿，第五季的內容都是她們大二發生的事，事實證明，最後Willow是跟Tara一起住。）

之後，Spike故意拿了一片磁片到Giles家，說這是他千辛萬苦潛入滅魔指揮部拿到的，裡面有對付亞當的有用資料。他把磁片拿給Willow，請Willow破解裡面的內容。Willow一拿到磁片，就坐在桌前， Tara則陪著站在一旁看。 Tara: What are we looking for? 泰拉：我們要找什麼？ Willow把磁片插進筆記型電腦內，試著破解密碼。 薇珞：有關亞當的事情。 接著筆記型電腦發出了一串滴滴答答的聲音，好像螢幕跑出了什麼訊息。Tara和Willow則皺著眉頭盯著螢幕。 Tara: It looks like gibberish. 泰拉：看來亂七八糟的。 |

Willow繼續專心地打著密碼。
Willow: They're encrypted.
薇珞：它們被鎖碼了。
Giles: Oh, wonderful.
吉爾斯：（諷刺地說）喔，太好了。
Giles走進房內，Spike就走到Willow的身邊，他看了電腦螢幕跑著一大堆數字，故意很關心地問。
Spike: Can you fix `em?
大釘：妳能破解嗎？
Willow: Crack a government encryption code on my laptop?
Easy as really difficult pie. Why?
薇珞：用我的手提電腦對付政府密碼？不能說很簡單啦，怎麼樣？
Spike故意嘆了口氣。
Spike: You're not exactly the whiz these days either. God,
I'm never gonna get paid.
大釘：妳最近也不大行嘛。老天，我大概拿不到你們說好要付我的錢了。
聽到Spike說自己不行，Willow瞪了瞪Spike。
Willow: I am a whiz.
薇珞：我可是奇才。
Tara: She is a whiz.
泰拉：（幫腔）她的確是奇才。
Willow: If every a whiz there was. I-I just need some time.
薇珞：如果真有奇才的話。我……我需要點時間。
Spike故意要把話題轉到挑撥離間上。他裝做很不經意地說。
Spike: No. I just heard you weren't . . .
大釘：不。我聽說妳不行了……
Willow按了一個鍵之後，抬起頭來，皺著眉頭看著Spike，Tara也是。
Spike: Your mates said you weren't playing with computers
so much. (indicates Tara) Into the new thing.
大釘：妳的室友說妳最近不大玩電腦了。（故意瞥了Tara一眼）妳迷上新玩意兒了。
Willow不高興地看的Spike。
Willow: What new thing?
薇珞：什麼新玩意兒？
Spike裝得好像沒什麼大不了的樣子。
Spike: You know, you two. The whole wicca
thing.
大釘：妳知道的，就是妳們兩個。魔法巫術的東西。
Willow: They-they were talking about that?
薇珞：他……他們在說這個？
Spike又故意裝成不想聊下去的樣子，他指指電腦。
Spike: Can we get back to business here?
I've got a deal at stake.
大釘：妳可不可以回到正經事上？我交易談不談得成不成都看它了。
但聊到這裡，Willow已經被搞得很生氣，她以為Buffy他們都背著她說她的壞話，她不肯把這話題就此罷休。
Willow: What did they say?
薇珞：他們說什麼？
Spike看來好像沒什麼耐心。
Spike: Talking about, you know, it's a
phase. You'll get over it.
大釘：就是說這是過渡階段。妳會走過去的。
Willow很不高興。
Willow: What? Who said that? Was it Buffy? (to
Tara) 'Cause . . . you know what she means by that.
薇珞：什麼？誰說的？是Buffy嗎？（轉身對Tara）因為……妳知道她的意思嗎？
Spike往旁邊一站。
Spike: No, she was defending you. 'Cause
Xander said you were just being trendy.
大釘：不，她在為妳辯護。因為Xander說妳是在趕流行。
Willow生氣。
Willow: Trendy?
薇珞：趕流行？
Spike還是依舊裝得很無辜，聽不懂那些話是什麼意思。
Spike: I don't know what they were going on
about. A person wants be a witch, that's their business.
大釘：我不知道他們在說什麼。誰想當女巫，那是他家的事。
Willow低頭搖了搖頭，表情看來有點凝重。
Willow: (softly) I knew Buffy was freaked.
薇珞：（低聲）我就知道Buffy嚇到了。
Tara安慰著Willow。
Tara: You should talk to her, 'cause I'm sure
she--
泰拉：妳應該找她談，因為我相信她……
Spike故意打斷Tara的話，不讓Tara勸Willow。
Spike: Pressing business, ladies. (pointing
to the screen) Don't want to get sidetracked. Still got your monsters to fight.
大釘：小姐們，事關緊要。（指指螢幕）別分心。我們還要打擊惡魔呢。
就在本集快結束時，這一群Buffy的死黨群，已經被Spike挑撥得差不多了，大家心裡都責怪著別人在自己的背後說了一些壞話。Buffy此時已經到了Giles家，她和Tara各站在Willow的身旁，看著Willow努力地破解密碼，但是螢幕上依舊是一團亂數跑不停，Willow感到有點洩氣。
Willow: It's still encrypted.
薇珞：還是一團亂碼。
Tara聽了之前Spike的挑撥，怕Buffy會怪Willow的電腦技巧退步，於是趕緊解釋說。
Tara: Well, Willow's working really hard on it.
泰拉：Willow已經很努力想破解密碼了。
Buffy: Okay, well, how long before you . . un-crypt it?
芭菲：好，那還要多久時間……才能破解呢？
Willow聽了這句話，以為Buffy在故意諷刺她，所以她也很酸地回答。
Willow: Hours. Days maybe. Anyone suggesting
months would not be accused of crazy talk.
薇珞：好幾小時。或許好幾天。如果要花上好幾個月，也不會沒人相信。
Giles在廚房倒著酒，他看來喝醉了，一臉失意樣。
Giles: What ever happened to Latin? At least
when that made no sense, the church approved.
吉爾斯：試試看拉丁文如何？至少我們不知道教堂是否准許使用。
Buffy聽Willow和Giles這樣洩氣的說法，讓她不耐煩地嘆了口氣。催促Willow趕快想辦法把密碼破解出來，好對付妖魔戰士亞當。Willow則趁Buffy走到客廳時，偷偷地瞪了Buffy一眼，客廳裡的每個人都看來很不開心。果然沒多久，Buffy、Willow和Xander就吵了起來，Giles則是醉得胡言亂語，大家為了各種事情吵成一團。而Tara和Anya則是怕被流彈所及，躲進廁所內。
在廁所裡，Anya坐在馬桶上望著地面，Tara則是心神不寧地靠著牆壁，聽著客廳裡的爭吵。
Tara: You think this will go on for a while?
泰拉：妳覺得他們會吵上好一陣子嗎？
Anya: (nonchalant) Hard to say.
安雅：（平淡）很難說。
她倆沉默了好一陣子，尷尬地避開彼此的目光，打量著這個浴室。
Tara: Nice bathroom.
泰拉：浴室滿漂亮的。
Anya: (nodding) Like the tile.
安雅：（點點頭）瓷磚很不錯。
這時客廳裡，Buffy、Xander和Willow還是吵成一團，互相責怪對方的不是。Buffy吵到最後有點受不了了。
Buffy: You guys, stop this! What happened to
you today?
芭菲：大家別吵了！你們今天到底怎麼了？
Willow看來非常生氣。
Willow: It's not today! Buffy, things have been
wrong for a while! Don't you see that?
薇珞：不只今天！Buffy，事情已經不對勁很久了！妳難道都沒注意到嗎？
Buffy: What do you mean wrong?
芭菲：妳指的不對勁是什麼？
Willow生氣地解釋。
Willow: Well, they certainly haven't been right,
since Tara. We have to face it. You can't handle Tara being my girlfriend.
薇珞：自從Tara出現後，很顯然地一切都變了。我們得正視這事實。妳根本無法接受Tara是我的女朋友。
聽了Willow這一番話，Buffy不明究理地瞪大眼睛望著Willow。Xander則還沒會意過來，想接著Willow的話繼續吵。
Xander: No! It was bad before that! Since you
two went off to college and forgot about me! Just left me in the basement to--
詹德：不！在這之前就很糟了！自從妳們兩個上大學把我丟一邊之後，就把我丟在我家地下室不聞不問……
講到這裡，突然Xander會意過來，滿臉驚訝地看著Willow。
Xander: Tara's your girlfriend?
詹德：Tara是妳的女朋友？
Willow很煩地雙手抱胸，白了Xander一眼。沒想到樓上卻傳來Giles的聲音，看來他也聽到剛剛Willow說她跟Tara是情侶關係。
Giles: (from upstairs) Bloody hellll!
吉爾斯：（從樓上）我的老天爺呀！
吵到這裡，Buffy再也受不了了，她把Willow和Xander都訓了一頓，兩人心裡也氣Buffy到不想搭理，最後Buffy轉身甩門離去，想要一個人去對付亞當……
