正式開始：

一大早，鬧鐘的指針指到了七點，突然間鈴聲大作，睡在一旁的Buffy被鈴聲吵醒，她拿起鬧鐘看了看，而另一頭的Willow和Tara的房內，兩人卻早已起床，Willow神情輕鬆，準備到浴室盥洗，而Tara則開心地整理紛亂的被褥，並且在Willow的枕頭下發現了一束乾燥的草，她不知道那是忘憂草，卻對小草微笑了一下，又嗅了嗅，然後放在身邊。Dawn也起床了，她敲了敲浴室的門，Willow走出浴室。至於Buffy，她還是依舊躺在床上。

更晚一點，在魔法商店內，Xander和Anya在一起微笑地讀著談婚禮的雜誌，一個顧客走上前，Anya趕緊走到收銀機旁幫客人算帳；而Dawn則在一個書架旁看書，Giles走過去，把Dawn手上的書給抽走，Dawn無奈地離去；至於店內的圓桌旁，Willow和Tara一起在讀魔法書，並且邊討論邊做筆記；Buffy也坐在圓桌旁無聊地在紙上塗鴉，Giles走上前去亮了亮手上的斧頭，Buffy點點頭，拋下手上的紙筆，一起走到訓練室。

夜晚到來，Buffy獨自在墓園裡巡邏，突然間她開始唱起歌來：

吸血鬼和惡魔： She is pretty well with fiends from hell 她對付來自地獄的惡魔相當了得 But lately, we can tell 但是最近，我們可以看出 That she's just going through the motions (Going through the motions) 她只是做做表面功夫而已（做做表面功夫而已） Facing it some how 想辦法去面對它

惡魔：
She's not even half the girl she - ow.
她甚至連半點她從前的……噢。

Buffy：
Will I stay this way forever?
我會永遠都是這樣子嗎？
Sleepwalk through my life's endeavor?
渾渾噩噩走過我此生心血嗎？

帥哥：
How can I repay - -
我要怎麼報答……

Buffy： Whatever. 沒關係。 I don't want to be 我不想要 Going through the motions 只是做做表面功夫 Losing all my drive 失去我所有欲求 I can't even see 我甚至看不出來 If this is really me 這是不是真正的我 And I just want to be 而我只是想要 Alive! 活著而已！ （歌曲結束）

第二天一早，Buffy走進魔法商店內，Willow、Tara已經站在店內櫃檯旁讀著魔法書，而站在櫃檯後的Giles看到Buffy則打了個招呼。
Giles: Good morning, Buffy!
吉爾斯：早安，Buffy

Willow抬頭看著Buffy。 Willow: Oh, hey, did Dawn get off to school all right? 薇珞：喔，嘿，Dawn放學了吧？ Buffy: What? Oh, uh, yeah. I think so. 芭菲：（若有所思）什麼？喔，嗯，對。我想是的。 這時坐在店內圓桌旁的Xander，對著自己手上拿的小煎餅圈和甜甜圈說話。 Xander: Respect the cruller. And tame the donut! 詹德：要尊敬小煎餅圈。要讓甜甜圈聽話！

Anya走過Xander身旁。
Anya: That's still funny, sweetie.
安雅：那還是很好笑，親愛的。

Giles從圓桌上拿起一個甜甜圈，才咬了一口，Buffy就走上前，吞吞吐吐地問Giles。 Buffy: So, uh, no research? Nothing going on? Monsters or whatnot? 芭菲：所以，嗯，沒有在找資料？沒有事情發生？沒有惡魔或什麼都沒嗎？ Giles和Xander一起對Buffy搖搖頭。 Buffy: Good! Good. Uh, so, did anybody ... uh ... last night, you know, did anybody, um ... burst into song? 芭菲：好！真好。（吞吐）喔，所以，有任何人……嗯……昨晚，有任何人，嗯……突然間一時興起唱歌的嗎？

Buffy的話讓身邊的人全停下手邊的事情，大家都相當驚訝，Xander不敢相信地嘆了口氣。
Xander: Merciful Zeus!
詹德：我萬能的天神啊！

Willow、Tara和Anya也全圍上前來，大家開始七嘴八舌地，一起各說各話講昨晚發生的事情。
Willow: We thought it was just us!
薇珞：我們還以為只有我們是這樣哩！
Giles: Well, I sang but I had my guitar at the hotel...
吉爾斯：我唱了，但是我是在飯店裡邊彈吉他邊唱……
Tara: It was bizarre. We were talking and then it was like-
泰拉：這真的很詭異。我們在聊天，然後就像是……
Buffy: Like you were in a musical!
芭菲：就像是妳們在一齣音樂劇裡一樣！
Tara: Yeah!
泰拉：對！
Giles: That would explain the huge backing orchestra I couldn't see and the synchronized dancing from the room service chaps.
吉爾斯：那就是為什麼我身後有一團看不見的交響樂隊，然後客房服務人員也跟著旋律一起跳舞。
Willow: We did a whole duet about dish washing.
薇珞：我們唱了一整首跟洗碗有關的二重唱。
Anya: And we were arguing and, and then everything rhymed and there were harmonies and the dance with coconuts.
安雅：我們在吵架，然後、然後所有的話就開始押韻，然後還有和音，和隨著椰子一起跳舞。
Willow: There was an entire verse about the cous-cous.
薇珞：還有整整一首跟couscous（一北非菜名）押韻的歌詞。
Xander: It was very disturbing.
詹德：這真的讓人感到很害怕。

大家七嘴八舌告一段落，Giles看著Buffy。
Giles: What did you sing about?
吉爾斯：那妳唱什麼？

Buffy頓了一下。
Buffy: I don't remember. But i-it seemed perfectly normal.
芭菲：我不記得了。但是，內容似乎挺平常的。
Xander: But disturbing. And not the natural order of things, and do you think it'll happen again?
詹德：但是讓人感到害怕。這不是事情正常運作下的樣子，妳覺得這樣的事還會再發生嗎？
Giles: I don't know. I should look into it.
吉爾斯：我不知道。我應該查查看。
Willow: With the books.
薇珞：用書查。

站在Willow身旁，握著Willow左手的Tara也忍不住插嘴一問。
Tara: Do we have any books on this?
泰拉：我們有任何跟這件事相關的書嗎？
Xander: Well, we just gotta break it down. Look at the factors before it happens again. Because I for one-
詹德：我們就來追根究底吧。在它再度發生前，找出原因。因為我……

突然間，Giles開始唱起歌來。

I've Got a Theory (Giles, Xander, Anya, Tara, Willow)

Giles： I've got a theory 我有個想法 That it's a demon 是一個惡魔 A dancing demon! 一個跳舞的惡魔！ No, something isn't right there. 不，那有些不對勁。
Willow： I've got a theory 我有個想法 Some kid is dreaming 是某個小孩在作夢 And we're all stuck inside his wacky Broadway nightmare 而我們都困在他古怪的百老匯夢魘裡 Xander： I've got a theory 我有個想法 We should work this out 我們應該解決這檔事 Anya、Giles、Tara、Willow、Xander： It's getting eerie 越來越讓人毛骨悚然 What's this cheery singing all about? 這些恐怖的歌聲是怎麼回事？

Xander：
It could be witches!
可能是女巫！
Some evil witches!
一些邪惡的女巫！（看著Willow和Tara，馬上改口）
Which is ridiculous 'cause witches they were persecuted and Wicca good and love the earth and woman power and I'll be over here.
這想法很荒謬，因為女巫們都被迫害她們都是既善良又愛人類又是女性的力量而我還是離開這裡好了

Anya： I've got a theory! 我有個想法！ It could be bunnies! 可能是兔子！ （一片沉默，大家看著Anya無言了三秒鐘）
Tara： I've got a - - 我有一個…… Aaya： Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes! 兔子才不像大家以為的那麼可愛！ They've got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses! 牠們有可以跳躍的腳和不安的小鼻子！ And what's with all the carrots? 還有那堆紅蘿蔔又是怎麼一回事？ What do they need such good eyesight for anyway? 牠們沒事需要那麼好的視力幹嘛？ Bunnies! 兔子！ Bunnies! 兔子！ It must be bunnies! 一定是兔子！ (一片煙火冒出，接著沉默三秒) ...Or maybe midgets. 或者也許是矮人。
Willow： I've got a theory we should work this fast - - 我有個想法，我們應該快點研究出這件事…… Willow和Giles： Because it clearly could get serious before it's passed. 因為可以明確看出，在事情結束前會變得很糟糕
Buffy： I've got a theory 我有個想法 It doesn't matter... 這沒什麼好擔心…… What can't we face if we're together? 如果我們在一起，有什麼是面對不了的？ What's in this place that we can't weather? 在這個地方，有什麼考驗我們沒接受過？ Apocalypse? 邪不勝正？ We've all been there 我們全都體驗過 The same old trips 還是面對老樣子的事 Why should we care? 我們又何必在乎？
Buffy、Anya、Giles、Tara、Willow、Xander： What can't we do if we get in it? 如果我們要解決它，有什麼是辦不到的？ We'll work it through within a minute 我們三兩下就可以度過這一關 We have to try 我們得要試試看 We'll pay the price 我們會付出代價 It's do or die 不是付出就是死亡

Buffy：
Hey, I've died twice.
嘿，我死過兩次呢

(Giles重複大家唱的歌詞) Buffy、Anya、Tara、Willow、Xander： What can't we face if we're together? 如果我們在一起，有什麼是面對不了的？ Giles： What can't we face? 我們有什麼面對不了的？

Buffy、Anya、Tara、Willow、Xander：
What's in this place we can't weather?
在這個地方，有什麼考驗我們沒接受過？

Giles：
If we're together...
如果我們在一起……

Buffy、Anya、Tara、Willow、Xander：
There's nothing we can't face
沒有什麼是我們面對不了的

Anya：
...Except for bunnies.
……除了兔子之外。
（歌曲結束）

唱完後，Xander一屁股坐回椅子上。
Xander: See, okay, that was disturbing.
詹德：看到沒，那真的讓人感到很害怕。

Willow和Tara也坐到圓桌旁的椅子上。
Willow: I thought it was neat.
薇珞：我想它還挺美妙的。
Buffy: So what is it? What's causing it?
芭菲：所以那是怎麼回事？那是什麼造成的？
Giles: I thought it didn't matter.
吉爾斯：我想這不重要。
Buffy: Well, I'm not exactly quaking in my stylish yet affordable boots, but there's definitely something unnatural going on here. And that doesn't usually lead to hugs and puppies.
芭菲：我並不是真的在雙腿打顫，但是這裡的確是有什麼不對勁的事情在發生。而且那種歌舞通常不會引來什麼擁抱和小動物。
Anya: Well, is it just us? I mean, is it only happening to us? 'Cause that would probably mean a spell or-
安雅：只有我們會這樣嗎？我是說，這件事只發生在我們身上嗎？（Buffy轉身朝店門口走去）因為若是這樣，這或許就代表著有個魔法或……

Buffy打開店門口朝街上望去，就看到一個男子（註：那人是BtVS的編劇和製作人之一David Fury）拿著一件襯衫和一個乾洗袋，身後是一群也拿著衣服的人，他們正在歌詠著他們剛洗好的衣服。
They Got The Mustard Out(David Fury) 男子： They got the mustard out! 他們把污漬都清乾淨了！ 眾人合聲： They got the mustard out! 他們把污漬都清乾淨了！ （歌曲結束）

Buffy轉身走進店內，把門帶上。
Buffy: It's not just us.
芭菲：不是只有我們。

過了一陣子之後，店門再度打開，掛著一臉興奮笑容的Dawn走進店內。 Dawn: Oh my god. You will never believe what happened at school today. 糖：我的天哪。你們絕對不會相信今天學校發生了什麼事。 這時大家正全圍在店內圓桌旁找資料，Buffy抬起頭，鎮定地回答。 Buffy: Everybody started singing and dancing? 芭菲：大家都開始唱歌和跳舞嗎？

Dawn的表情轉為失望，她隨口縐了一個答案。
Dawn: I gave birth to a pterodactyl.
糖：我生了一隻恐龍。

Anya驚訝地回頭看著Dawn。
Anya: Oh my god, did it sing?
安雅：天哪，它有唱歌嗎？

大家說話的同時，Willow和Tara開始在彼此耳邊竊竊私語起來。 Dawn: So, you guys too, huh? 糖：（對大家）所以，你們也這樣是嗎？ Xander: So what'd you guys sing about? 詹德：那你們都唱些什麼呢？
Dawn嘆了口氣，把書包放在櫃檯旁的凳子上。 Dawn: Math. 糖：（嘆氣）數學。 這時Willow在Tara耳邊又小聲說了一些話，Tara緊緊牽著Willow的手，突然大聲打插。 Tara: Tha-That's right! The, the volume. The text. 泰拉：（大聲）對、對了！那、那本古文本。那本魔法書。
Giles疑惑地看著她倆。 Giles: What text? 吉爾斯：什麼魔法書？ Willow: The volume-y text. You know? The, the report. 薇珞：那本像古文本的魔法書。知道嗎？那、那（含糊不清）本報告書。 Xander: The what now? 詹德：現在講的又是什麼？ Tara: Oh, there's just a few volumes back at the house that deal with mystical chants, bacchanals. 泰拉：喔，有一些放在我們家裡的古文本是有關神祕歌曲和人們唱歌跳舞的內容。
Dawn趁大家說話的時候，瞄到櫃檯上有一個項鍊。 Tara: It might be relevant. 泰拉：那或許有相關。 Willow: Yeah, we could, um- 薇珞：對，我們或許可以，嗯…… Giles: Well, I'm a hair's breadth from investigating bunnies at the moment, so I'm open to anything. 吉爾斯：我目前幾乎都要從兔子開始查起了，所以我對任何調查都可接受。 Dawn偷偷地把項鍊放進自己的口袋裡。而Willow有點鬆了口氣，她一把把書闔上。 Willow: Great, we'll, uh, go check it out and uh, we'll give you a call. 薇珞：太好了，我們，嗯，就去看看，然後，嗯，我們會打電話給你們的。 Tara和Willow緊張地站起來，心虛地跟大家點點頭。 Tara: Yeah, this could blow the whole thing wide open. 泰拉：對，這麼做可以讓整件事的調查更廣泛。
這時外面的陽光和煦地照耀大地，Willow和Tara正手牽手快樂地經過太陽谷大學青翠的草地上，Tara心情愉快地跟Willow說著話。 Tara: Do we have any books at all at home? 泰拉：我們家裡應該有相關的書吧？

正說著，就有兩個大學男生從她倆對面走來，接著經過她們的身邊，並且一直盯著Tara看。Willow注意到這兩個男生一直盯著Tara微笑，但Tara則是沒發覺。
Willow: Well, who wants to be cooped up on a day like this? The sun is shining. There are songs going on. Those guys are checking you out.
薇珞：誰想要困在那小屋子內討論事情呢？陽光和煦，又有許多人在高歌，而且那些男的在看妳喔。

Tara驚訝地回頭望了望那兩個男生。 Tara: What? What are they looking at? 泰拉：什麼？他們在看什麼？ Willow: The hotness of you, doofus. 薇珞：火辣辣的妳囉，笨瓜。

Tara不相信地又回頭看了看那兩個男生的背影。
Tara: Those boys really thought I was hot?
泰拉：那些男生真的覺得我很辣？

Willow停下腳步，認真地說。 Willow: Entirely! 薇珞：絕對如此！ Tara假裝又驚又喜。 Tara: Oh, my god... I'm cured! I want the boys! 泰拉：喔，我的天啊……我矯正過來了！我想要男生了！ 說完她就假裝轉身，想要奔向那兩個男的，Willow則是抓著她，Tara接著回頭望著Willow，開心地笑了起來。Willow故意開玩笑地問。 Willow: Do I have to fight to keep you? 'Cause I'm not large with the butch. 薇珞：我一定非得跟他們打架，好讓妳守在我身邊嗎？但我沒那兩個壯漢強壯耶。
Tara對著Willow促狹地說。 Tara: I'm just not used to that. They were really looking at me? 泰拉：我不大習慣那樣啦。他們剛剛真的在看我？
Willow看著Tara的雙眼，溫柔又深情地對Tara說。 Willow: And you can't imagine what they see in you. 薇珞：（微笑）而且妳無法想像他們在妳身上看到了什麼。
這時Tara也認真地看著Willow的雙眼，很溫柔地回答。 Tara: I know exactly what they see in me…You. 泰拉：我很確定知道他們在我身上可以看到什麼……就是妳！
一講完……她就開始對Willow唱起表達她對Willow愛意的Under your Spell，兩人跳起舞來了！ Under Your Spell（Tara） Tara： I lived my life in shadow, never the sun on my face 我生活在陰影下，從沒照耀過陽光 It didn't seem so sad though, I figured that was my place 這似乎不會太悲傷，我明白那就是我的地方 Now I'm bathed in light, something just isn't right 現在我卻沐浴到陽光，事情不該是這樣

魔法商店內，其他人都還圍在圓桌旁查書。
Xander: I bet they're not even working.
詹德：（對Buffy）我賭她們根本沒在調查。
Buffy: Who now?
芭菲：你在說誰？

Xander表情八卦地解釋著。 Xander: Willow and Tara. You see the way they were with each other? The get-a-roominess to them? I bet they're- Singing. They're probably singing right now. 詹德：Willow和Tara啊。妳有看到她倆互相眉來眼去的模樣嗎？要什麼更寬廣空間的她們？我敢賭她們正在（看到Dawn坐在附近寫作業，馬上改口）……唱歌。她們或許現在正在唱歌。 Giles: I'm sure Willow and Tara are making every effort. 吉爾斯：我很確定Willow和Tara正在盡力找資料。 Xander: Oh, yeah. 詹德：喔，是喔。

Buffy提醒Xander別亂說話。
Buffy: Xander.
芭菲：Xander。

Dawn微笑地插嘴。
Dawn: Buffy, it's okay. I do know about this stuff. Besides, it's all kinda romantic.
糖：Buffy，沒關係的。這種事我都懂。而且，這也挺羅曼蒂克的呢。
Buffy / Xander: No it's not!
芭菲/詹德：不。才不是！
Dawn: Come on! Songs, dancing around. What's gonna be wrong with that?
糖：拜託！唱歌、四處跳舞。這麼做到底有什麼不好的？

在Bronze內，四周一片黑暗，有一個穿西裝的男子無法控制地跳著像踢踏舞般的舞步，他滿臉驚恐，腳步越跳越紊亂，四周沒有音樂也沒有歌曲，突然間他的身體冒出熊熊火燄，轟地一身，他燃燒成一具焦屍倒在地上。而在Bronze的一隅，真正造成大家唱歌跳舞的惡魔現身了，他留著翹翹的鬍子，看著焦屍，心情相當愉悅。 Sweet: That's entertainment. 史威特：那才叫做娛樂。
